Dr Guy Alexander graduated from Massey University, New Zealand, in 1987.

After periods in mixed practice in New Zealand and the UK, a position at Liverpool University in the UK led to him being able to follow his calling and become an equine surgeon.  A surgical training position at Murdoch University, West Australia, followed by a position at Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital, Victoria, helped Dr Guy complete his Fellowship of the Australia and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (FANZCVS – Equine Surgery) in 2005.

Dr Guy’s Middle Eastern experience started in Dubai in 2005, with a 6 year stint based mainly at the Dubai Equine Hospital.

Dr Guy returned to New Zealand after 20 years away and worked mainly as an independent consultant surgeon.  The Middle East came calling again and he was the founding veterinarian appointed to set up The Equine Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.  He recruited and led the team there through the first two Saudi Cup meetings.

After a year working for the Hong Kong Jockey Club in both Hong Kong and China, Dr Guy has returned to the Middle East, starting as the Head Veterinarian at EVMC in early 2023.

Having worked in many different regions and populations of horses, Dr Guy has extensive experience and knowledge and has developed a huge range of skills to deal with a wide variety of surgeries.  He is also responsible for, and has special interest in, lameness and diagnostic imaging.

His presence at our Equine Veterinary Hospital assures our clients that their beloved equine companions will receive the finest care, backed by a wealth of knowledge and experience.
